Anglepoise

I can't cope with the wobbly lamp I have at the moment. It has such an awkward mechanism and a few months ago I didn't pull the lever tight enough and it went crashing down onto the table shattering the glass shade. Now all that remains is a halogen bulb on a long stem! So I really need a beautiful Anglepoise... *dreams*

I adore the atmosphere that is captured in these photos and the feelings that are conjured up inside of me. These London scenes are very familiar to me, but I've never seen them depicted in such a beautiful way. Battersea Powerstation is a very strong and sturdy structure, but looks soft and ghostly in the photo. It makes me wonder if this is how the powerstation would have looked when it was still in operation - the air misty from the fumes.

I've discovered some incredible cat pictures over the last week. I came across the first photographer via Fabric of my life, and it turns out I knew her from uni four years ago! Emilie is from Paris and spent a year at uni in London. She is an incredible photographer and is taking part in the Impossible Project. The Internet world is not as big as I'd thought. CRAZY.

This will be my last cat post for a while. Maybe I should set up separate cat and Boyzone blogs to indulge my other obsessions...

Space of the week: Vintage Treasure

I wish I could step into these photos and relax in that lovely blue arm chair, sitting amongst all the vintage goodies. I love the subtle grey-purple wall colour in the first photo; it really brings the room to life and is perfectly balanced by accents of black and pops of colour.

I was unaware that I'd become so obsessed with triangles until I had a look through my recent flickr fav's! Aren't these images fun?! They make me feel really happy - especially the 4th :)

Yesterday I received a sweet comment from City Girl Chicago to say that she's learning more about my tastes and as soon as she saw the images in the last post, immediately knew it was my style. It's so funny because before I started this blog I only vaguely knew what I liked - I just couldn't pin it down. One of the things that I'm enjoying most about blogging is seeing how my tastes develop over time. It gives me the opportunity to take a step back and analyse the things that visually stimulate me. I've definitely become more confident with colour. A couple of years ago I always gravitated towards green (I still have far too much of it in my home, but at least it feels leafy and fresh..!) but now I'm drawn towards yellow, red, purple, orange...

Has anyone else had the same experience since starting their blog? Do share!

I love these photos of Miss Vu's desk. She does a total makeover each month to keep her workspace inspiring. Isn't this a brilliant idea?! At the moment I work between my dining table and tiny computer desk, which isn't ideal. I'd love a cosy desk where I can settle down, without having to clear it off the table in time for dinner!

I have a very small teacup collection (that I may post about sometime) but it's nothing compared to these beauties above! I was searching for Black Velvet Hostess tableware (7) which I've had my eye on for years, and came across H is for Home's stunning flickr photostream! Even though I don't actually drink coffee, I need the Cathrineholm blue coffee pot. Really, I do. It's just perfect. And I'd quite fancy a breadbin... It's not as fun storing bread in the fridge.

Update: Oh my... H is for Home has a website where they actually sell some of these retro kitchen items!!!
